Feed Back to CAN-AM

We are inviting your SPL/PL or troop designate to attend a meeting (Saturday night) where they will give us feedback on what was good and what was not. A mug up (REMEMBER TO BRING A MUG) will be provided for them. Please send 1, but only 1, representative of your troop. It will be held in the Leaders Coffee 09:30 1/5/2006 Area at 21:45. Please ensure that a representative attends. If you as a leader have any suggestions or comments please take the time to jot them down and send them with your youth to the meeting. Help us to make this an even higher quality scouting outing for our youth. It is our desire to ALWAYS give you an excellent Camporee in which the youth can learn, have fun and grow in scouting.

Camporee procedures and Rules

General Information

There will be Camporee staff around the site 24 hours. Persons found out of place or causing a problem after quiet hour means that we must wake someone to deal with them. Before you turn in, have your leaders do a tent head count to ensure everyone is home. The troop leaders are always responsible for their youth but between 23:00 and 06:30, you must know that they all are where they should be. Lights out! Quiet time is 23:00. Please respect the rights of your neighbours to attempt to get some sleep. Please tell your youth to respect the caution tape that we put up. Due to heavy erosion we ask people to stay off of and out of certain areas and the tape is the cheapest and most visible method we have of marking these areas. Also we use it to rope off Archery and Rifle ranges. The river is out of bounds.

Gear into Camp

Upon arrival someone will direct you to your sub camp drop off point. Unload your gear quickly please. Park and lock your car in the parking lot. Cars can not remain in the camping area for longer than 15 minutes. Remember no cooking or sleeping trailers in the camp site. No parking outside of the parking lot. Please move cars to the parking lots ASAP.

Gear out from Camp

After closing and your gear is all packed up, a clearance slip will be issued. Once you have the slip you may bring your car over from the parking lot. Pack up and have a safe ride home. We’ll see you next year.

ALL CARS WILL REMAIN IN THE PARKING LOT UNTIL AFTER CLOSING ON SUNDAY.

Opening and Closing

We would ask all troops that wish to parade their troop flags, to have their flag bearer down at the flag poles by 08:30. The entire camp will start to assemble at 08:30 for a 08:45 opening. Troop uniform should be worn to both opening and closing ceremonies.

Dress Code

During the Camporee minimal dress code will be as follows:

Picnic Tables

Sorry there are no extra tables for troops to use so please don’t expect any. Please don’t take tables from the display areas or from the sub camp HQ. PLEASE DO NOT MOVE TABLES. If your troop needs help with gear feel free to contact us and we’ll try to help.

Sanitation and Toilets

There will be lots of Port-A-Johns at the camp, along with hand wash stations. We would hope that these washrooms would be kept reasonably clean. There will be both male and female designated facilities along with wheelchair accessible toilets. Please put the garbage out at the sub camp pick-up point after each meal. The wildlife is tame to the point of being somewhat aggressive in their search for food. We will have a blue box recycling program. Rules to the use of the recycling depots will be posted in each sub camp. We would like to generate as little garbage as possible. City water will be available during this camp. There must not be any washing done at the water tanks or pumps.

Cooking and Ground Fires

All cooking will be done on propane or white gas (Naphtha) stoves. Dutch oven cooking will be permitted in special areas in each sub-camp. White gas users, Please note: Each sub camp will have an area away from the tenting area in which all liquid fuel should be stored. Mark the owners name on your cans. Please refuel in this area as well. There will be a fire extinguisher available here.

Other Things

As with most camps please do not bring big knifes, guns, sling shots, swords, etc. If these things are found, you won’t get them back. Drugs, alcohol fireworks and dangerous behavior will end in removal from the Camporee. The police may be called for serious matters.

Lost and found

Lost and found will be located at first aid. If you find it please bring it here. If you lose it start looking here. We will make an attempt to keep most found items for a period of time after the Camporee. Please get a hold of one of the Camporee staff if you have lost something.

First Aid

A First Aid lodge will be maintained for the duration of the Camporee starting at about NOON on Friday until shortly after closing on Sunday. (location on map) Troops arriving early or staying late will be responsible for their own First Aid. Please report all accidents to our first aiders. The lodge will be manned through out the day and night. Troops are responsible for their own medical forms.
